Merv Huges Celebrity Challenge

The Centurions was incorporated on 30 September 1992 to provide an outlet for cricketers of all ages and abilities to mix socially and play the game in a competitive, yet friendly, spirit.

To qualify for Centurions' membership an applicant must have played; umpired or scored in one hundred or more games or have made a century; taken six or more wickets in an innings; taken over one hundred wickets or dismissals at Premier Cricket First or Second XI level or at Sub-District First XI level.

Today, membership of the Centurions comprises former State and Test players as well as those who have represented their Club at Premier Cricket and Sub-District level.

An "Associate Membership" category has been created by the Centurions' Committee for those who do not meet the qualification criteria. The acceptance of nominations for "Associate Member" remains at the sole discretion of the Committee.

Between five and eight one-day matches are played each Season. These matches include week-end and mid-week games.

The Centurions home ground is the picturesque, privately-owned Hume & Hovell Ground at Strath Creek (pictured above).

Three International Tours have been held to the UK; Ireland and Europe. In June 2003 a coaching tour to Vanuatu was conducted under the auspices of the International Cricket Council.

The Centurions supports Asthma Victoria - and each year a substantial financial donation to the work of Asthma Victoria is made by the Centurions from funds raised during the year.

Centurions' Sponsors include County Sports; The Clothing Connection and Nexacom.
